Camp Mend-a-Heart is offered free-of-charge to kids in Nevada affected by heart disease. Many families incur incredible financial burdens from medical bills due to the numerous doctors’ appointments and hospital stays heart kids require. As one of the most underserved pediatric population in the nation, funding and resources for kids with congenital heart disease are very scarce.

Children who attend Camp Mend-a-Heart are usually not eligible for the summer camping experience offered by other entities due to the fact that they require round-the-clock medical supervision and care. Many of these children have had several open-heart surgeries, pacemakers, and/or heart transplants, and many face several more surgeries in their futures. Every day of their lives is spent knowing that they are at a high-risk for mortality. Camp Mend-a-Heart offers these kids an opportunity to finally be ‘normal,’ to forget their ailments, and to connect with others who have had similar experiences.

The approximate cost per child for camp is $1,000 which does not take into account the volunteer staff and counselors’ time and experience. With the exception of two foundation employees, Camp Mend-a-Heart is facilitated entirely on a volunteer basis.

We thank you in advance for your support of Camp Mend-a-Heart!
